Intro Meeting
During our initial conversation, we’ll see if you’re a good fit for Sona’s services and qualify for the Retirement Clarity Review.
A good fit typically:
- For assets under management (AUM) clients, have at least $500k in transferable assets
- For subscription clients, have a net worth or income to support our $9k min annual fee (typically $2–3M net worth or $400k+ household income)
- Values ongoing, full-service guidance and is ready to delegate key decisions
We aren’t a fit for:
- DIY investors who prefer one-time or hourly advice
- Those with under $750k in liquid assets seeking AUM services
- Investors who frequently trade or chase high-risk trends
Retirement Clarity Review
For qualifying individuals, our Retirement Clarity Review is a paid, fixed-fee planning engagement designed to provide focused, high-level insight into key retirement planning considerations.
Topics may include:
- Your Retirement Paycheck – high-level retirement income considerations
- Tax Planning Considerations – general tax-aware strategies and tradeoffs
- Legacy & Estate Planning Coordination – high-level planning considerations
- Investment Alignment – how current investments align with stated goals and risk tolerance
While this review is not a comprehensive financial plan and does not include ongoing monitoring or implementation, it is intended to provide actionable insight and help determine whether there is a mutual fit to continue the conversation.

Your Top Questions, Answered
How do you meet with clients? In-person? Virtual? Other states?
We do both. Post-COVID, most of our meetings are still via Zoom, but we meet in person most often in our Edina, MN office. We do request that you provide at least 3-4 business days’ notice for in-person meetings. In most cases, we can work with clients from any state.
Is there a separate fee for financial planning and investment management?
No. For assets under management or AUM clients, financial planning and investment management are included in the AUM fee. For subscription clients, financial planning and investment guidance are included in the subscription fee. Separate fees may apply to third-party asset management or held-away investment management.
Is there an additional fee for the initial financial plan?
After the Free Retirement Review, your financial plan is completed once you become a Sona client. There is no additional fee for your financial plan for asset under management (AUM) clients. For subscription clients, there could be a one-time fee of up to $1,500 for more complex clients. Additional fees for third-party asset management and held-away assets may apply.
When do you meet with clients?
Mondays are reserved for client prep, so we do a lot of analysis! Client meetings take place Tuesday-Thursday from 9am-6pm Central Time, and Friday mornings. Friday afternoons, we set aside for pro bono work and client prep.
